The Writer’s Work: Wonder and Witness, May 7-11
May 7 @ 4:00 pm - May 11 @ 12:00 pm$540
“To see clearly,” John Ruskin once wrote, “is poetry, prophecy and religion all in one.” It can be revolutionary as well. The writer’s task has always been to pay attention, to regard the world with wonder and curiosity, and to serve as a witness, describing its appearances and events and their possible meanings. In times that challenge the justice and peace we seek in the world, this role is especially important. In 2017, my annual writers’ retreat at ARC Retreat Center (in Cambridge, MN) will focus on our double task as writers, cultivating wonder—paying attention to world at hand—and giving witness to what we see. In the exquisite care of ARC’s intentional community, the week offers both community and solitude to support your writing, with optional guided writing sessions, all in ARC’s beautiful wooded setting where we will together witness the arrival of spring. The retreat is now full. To be added to the waiting list (in the event of cancellations), call ARC Retreat Center 763-689-3540.
