My Story, Your Story, Our Story
February 18 - May 19$40
What is your unique origin story? How is it nested with others’ in the larger history we share? And how do these stories deepen our understandings of identity, racism and belonging?
This facilitated small group program will meet monthly, February – May (alternating Saturday and Sunday afternoons), inviting each participant to reflect on their own family’s story of origin and bringing those stories into conversation with the larger national history that weaves those stories together.
Co-led by Karen Hering and Arif Mamdani, the group will use writing, conversation and other exercises focused on four monthly themes: Love, Brokenness, Transformation and Hope.
Advance registration required and participants must commit to attending all four sessions (Feb 18, March 17, April 15 and May 19) and to a small amount of reading and reflection between sessions. We welcome all, regardless of knowledge of family history or writing ability, but the group will be limited in size and formed to maximize diversity. Childcare provided on request.
Fee: $40, to cover materials, resources and food. Waivers granted if needed. For more information or to register, click here.
