Courageous Living in Troubled Times
August 20 @ 6:30 pm - August 22 @ 3:30 pm$295
In these challenging times, we are often called upon to speak up, show up and live our values more boldly. But it can be difficult to muster the courage to do this. The Chinese character for courage represents a person with arms spread wide open, a brave one who endures hardship not by hiding behind armor but by opening up and harmonizing with their surroundings. What might we learn from the ancient teachings and practices that inspire this understanding, helping us to live more courageously, with greater vulnerability and strength today?
Guided by Taoism and other wisdom teachings, by movement, poetry and stories, we will each consider how to more courageously be ourselves – to bring our gifts, vulnerabilities and identities more fully into the world. Author Karen Hering and Qigong teacher Lisa Schlingerman will lead participants in guided writing, small group conversation, Qigong, Chinese calligraphy (no experience needed!) and other activities both playful and contemplative to help us access the wisdom and courage found in our own lives and bodies. The retreat will include a pause mid-day Monday to view the solar eclipse (solar-safe glasses included with your registration!) and to reflect on this light shifting occurrence and its invitation to set our fears aside. All registration through Wisdom Ways.
